How the calculation works
The remaining amount is your expected cost minus what you have already set aside, with a minimum of zero. The monthly target divides that amount by the calendar months between the plan-start month and your chosen replacement month, rounded up to the next cent.
If you choose the start month or an earlier date, the remaining amount appears under “Needed now” instead. Monthly targets assume no interest, inflation or future price changes. They fall as replacements reach their dates.
Replacement dates are your planning choices, not estimates of appliance lifespan. This tool does not recommend replacing a working appliance.
